Hi all. Driving through rush hour traffic and the stack was reporting up to 105 degrees (normal temperature around 88-90 or so)

Do I need to panic its another HGF (last one was around 3 month ago) - yes I have the Rover K Series !!

I'll check coolant later when its been standing a while.

Makes me wonder when you're watching the temperature going up and up, at what point do you think FECK, and abandon vehicle - difficult during rush hour standstill, but theres still a point where you think thats high enough for me thank you.

Any advice appreciated.

I would check your rad fan is working. Mine has been up that high, but that was cause the fan was not kicking in. I have since fitted a manual switch for the fan so I can turn it on when it gets into the high 90's.

Hi designer - yes the fan kicks in and it comes down quickly enough, but its just the underlying fact its getting that high concerns me. I'm just very nervous about this issue given the elise fire vid posted last week.

I wouldn't be overly concerned my first S2 would go to 110 on a warm day when stuck in traffic with no air flow to cool it down,as soon as you move off the temp drops quickly. My 2nd S2 does the same gets up to about 100 when stationary then drops back to 88 when moving. I think you need to worry when it gets to 120+

Thanks ad111s - hopefully its just the norm. I'll check the coolant etc later today, but to be fair I was glued to the bumper of the car in front, and I was in the subway on the central motorway at the time, so its hopefully nothing to worry about.

Also the fan did kick in as it should and the temperature came back down, especially once I started moving again.

As much as it can pi55 you off in traffic cos everyone dives in front of you - try and keep a cars length between you and the car in front so the warm exhaust air doesn't exacerbate the situation.
