I need to replace the timing cover on my SD1 V8 engine as the oil pump housing is badly worn. I've tried all of the obvious suppliers and get the same story from them all, "You'll be lucky, haven't seen one of those for years!!"

Does anybody have a one lying around in the garage or know where I may be able to get one from, new or used??

Thanks,

Mike n Helen

Yes I always thought it was a piece of crap design. You might find a complete engine on Ebay that you could pilfer one off...

if not RPI may be able to help (details from the website above )
if that is no good, as wedg1e said may be cheaper to buy a full engine.

If only life was this simple. That cover is for the later engine, to fit this on mine would mean a new water pump, dizzy, pulleys.....a big job.

Think I'll try some local scrap yards, but I'm guessing there's not many SD1's around now. Wasn't sure if there were any Rover/V8 specialists in the area that I've over looked.
