Doing my bike licence... good idea?
Discussion
After years of saying "oh yeah, I'd love to do my bike licence", but doing nothing about it, I finally think I have been persuaded to take the plunge... 'to do it before the test gets harder next year - just in case I feel like buying a bike at some point in the future'.
Is this a good idea? Am I taking an inevitable step towrads buying a bike a lot sooner than I care to admit (I am prone to impulse buys!).

Get it done, I did mine nearly 14 years ago (bloody hell, makes me sound old). Just be very carefully about riding bikes on the road, its not like it use to be. I gave up riding superbikes on the road a couple of years ago for several reasons (Police, accidents, decline in the standards of driving, losing my licence etc.)
I did plenty of track days and a European Superbike School and really enjoyed riding a bike. The roads are just not safe for superbikes anymore. So be very careful with what ever bike you buy. It will teach you a lot about reading the road and defensive riding, which will ultimately make you a better rider/driver.
I now have another bike, but hardly use it. It just keeps my full no claims going and something to take out on a nice, dry, sunny day.
Get your licence, so if you ever do want a bike, you are in a position to do so.

Well, I think this may be the first time I've actually expressed an opinion on here but you did ask. I would say don't do it unless you're going to ride frequently as soon as you pass. The thought of someone passing then leaving it for months or years before getting on a bike again is scary.
Get it done, the law changes next year to make the test longer (and more expensive) you wil have to go to a dedicated DVLA test facility to do all your maneuvers and stops etc. My wife did hers 3 years ago now and has never regretted it for a moment.
