does anyone know how safe crofts future is, i remember a couple of years ago there was a lot of speculation of closure due to residents complaining of noise levels.

I was looking through the website last night and there was a bit on this, they give free tickets to local residents as compensation for the noise hehe Seems odd - they don't like the noise but don't mind going to watch it at the circuit, which is louder confused I reckon they just wanted some free stuff!

ETA: Scrap that, it was wikipedia:
wikipedia croft page said:
In 2000, an official complaint was upheld by local residents over the noise produced by the racing car engines. This was claimed to be having an effect on some people's health, although Darlington District Council later quashed this, though Croft Circuit gives a number of free tickets to local residents as compensation for the noise.

Well the NIMBY's #1 pet hate comes around in a couple of weeks. It's BTCC time at Croft again hehe

Personally i'm less than impressed with the fences that have sprung up recently at Croft.

Crofts future is pretty secure now that it has been taken over by the BARC.

The neighbours seem to have thankfully given up on complaining (never could understand why someone would move next to a track then moan about it!) and the facilities are slowly being improved and explanded. The old commentary bus has even gone!

I don't get up there as often as I should but I get to hear all the goings on through my Brother who works there. Am looking forward to the Touring Car meeting in just over a week. smile

These complaining old biddies really do my head in !

They seem to buy a house near a racing circuit in full knowledge that there is noise every now and then. Then they start a campaign of protest at the noise in attempts to close the circuit and raise the value of their house in doing so......so they can then sell it and move on.

They've done it at nearly EVERY racing circuit in the UK !

In my view they can all go and **** themselves !

What makes me laugh with the complainers is that most of the circuits were airforce bases before racing took place and I'm sure a WW2 bomber was much noisier!

I'll happily swap my house (nice quiet location) for theirs any time they like smile
