GT-40 rep on Team Valley
Discussion
A1 Autocraft have opened their new premises on the Team Valley, so I had to have a quick look around their shop - pretty typical boy-racer stuff mostly but they had a gorgeous dark silver GT-40 replica sat outside - utterly fantastic, so elegant and yet completely aggressive. I'd never realised from looking at pictures just how low and wide they are at the rear until now I've stood beside one.
Anyone else seen it?
Wonder how much it costs to buy / build one?

Its just beside Sainsburys, near juction on A1, go into Sainsbury car park and turn right and I think first left, you see a GT 40 on stands, the lad who runs it is John Dryden. Pretty good show room upstairs wheels etc.
Take the last road on the left approaching the Sainsbury's roundabout from Kingsway (turn left just after the pedestrian crossing) and then Sainsbury's carpark will be on your right - then take the first left by the Metal Supermarket and go down that road - A1 is on the left about 3/4 of the way down.

Is this the place that's building GT40's from exact plans of the original and using a Ford supercharged V8?
I seem to recall an artical in the local newspaper about them, something about it being a South African kit, but made in England. I will probably be lured to the Team Valley like a moth to a flame.

I called in on Saturday, and yes, it it the South African CAV GT40's that they're making and very very nice they are too. I've seen these before at shows, and they are a perfect replica, but built around a stainless chassis thats much stiffer than the original (aparantly). They've got a nice set up there and the retail prices are much more palitable than Halfords....
