James,

Shoot me an e-mail and i'll put you in touch with my brother. He imports Tropical Fish to the UK, quarantines them and then sells to shops in the North East.

I'm sure he'll be able to advise you on your setup as well as supply most of the necessary equiptment and fish at much better rates than the shops.

Theres a place in the industrial estate in the middle of the map. Its in Heaton just behind the post office and has one side solely for fish and a shop next door that does all the bits and bobs. I can't remember the name of the place but my dad and my uncle both get the majority of their stuff from here. They'll even custom build you a tank to your size requirements.

There are two fairly close to each other which are decent.

Firstly Monument Aquatics, just opposite B&Q at Washington.

Secondly Penshaw Aquatics Centre, a small shop not far from Penshaw monument and they keep some rare stuff according to my brother who keeps some obscure tropical fish!

Hope this helps.
