Its my biryhday next Monday bounce and my parents are going to get me a car control/experience/fun/hooligan day, but a problem seems to appear when I look for these days and there doesn't seem to be much choice up our neck of the woods. So does anyone have any recomendations please.

And would there be any problems with different cars with me being a shortarse?

Cheers Stacey

Try an Oulton Park Experience. The track is in Cheshire, but is a really great track and the staff there are fantastic. They have a range of experiences; rally school, off road, single seaters, supercars etc. However I went for the caterham day which although it says day, normally lasts three to four hours. You get basic skills, slalom, figure of eights, and track time. Throughly enjoyed myself. Rally school looks fun but is the most popular.

www.motorsportvision.co.uk/brands-hatch/index.asp is a decent link

The experiences are pretty similar everywhere, depends on how far you want to travel, how much money the parents want to splash on you and what type of car interests you. For a great day out (with factory tour) the elise days at hethel are pretty special as well; bit like advanced driver training with attitude.

There's a few that are run by Croft Circuit. I organised some of these for my sons

I did a Rally School day with Chris Birkbeck

..... and happy birthday by the way (in advance of Monday) _ expect some cake if you're turning up on the 14th.

If you go for a Croft one I can guarantee a nice clean car as my brother does them!

Worst case scenario, comes as a navigator, then you only have to buy a lunch + pint (or petit wine spritzer being a lady). Breakfast is on me and mrs zebra. Imagine missing out on all the 'After Hoon Chat'

Croft do do some good days, but the track never really excites me. I accept that it's quite technical for your lines (especially Jim Clark S's) but Cadwell and Oulton have hills and dips and the associated facilities are top notch.

Have fun

Not sure I'd call it a 'fun day' though. It looks like instruction. Get it right and move on to the next thing. There's a lot to be said for courses like this but it looks very different to the driving experience days.

The best driving day I've had was the Caterham Slalom day. Run by Caterham with cars set up to oversteer. They teach you how to power slide with lots of track time driving around a load of hairpin corners. They also teach you how to donut around a cone while keeping your front wheel on the cone. Great day but I think they only do them down south.
