Anyone that's had a drive with me in my Cerb - there's been a few, so don't be shy - What do you think of my Cerbera?

Do I drive it too fast and scare the hell out of you?

Do I drive it as you would expect and think I show the Cerbera's best points?

Is my Cerbera too loud/sounds crap? Does it need tidying up in any areas?

Just trying to get a feel if I need to modify my selling techniques.

You're selling technique stinks.

The car is wonderful and fits you like a glove. The problem with your technique is that you are trying to sell something that your sole wants to keep. Get past this phase in your life and come to terms with the fact that you need to keep the best sounding Cerbera money can buy.

I've not seen your car in the flesh, looks a good example though.

your advert seems fine to me, no BS and it's not too wordy, gets the details in etc, which is nice.
Are you relying totally on PH classifieds to sell? personally i wouldn't, as good as they the autotrader is still the best way to sell a car in my opinion. I've seen lots of people across various forums trying to sell simply via the forums and ebay, and have no luck, yet as soon as they've resorted to putting it in the autotrader it's sold.
not the nicest thing to have to do as there's no guarentees who'll get their hands on it, but one person's money is as good as the next.

The only thing that would put me off is the milage, i've scared myself away from TVR's because of reliability, and i'd be wondering how much longer it will be reliable for. But for the price it seems spot on mate.

IMO you drive it like it was designed to be driven but I wouldn't say you thrash it, and I certainly know it's been well maintained

I would agree with tvrbob, I first meet you in december and you were talking about selling it then if you were determined I'm sure it would have moved on by now.

Keep the Cerb and sell the Navigator ( or a kidney if you really want cash)

Having been taken for a blast in the car its everything you would expect from a cerb and then some and you drive it with total confidence
Keep it you know its for the best

Fuel bills are too high. I've got two V8's to feed and only one of them will carry seven of us around. Despite trying to convince the wife that a diesel transit van would be more suitable for her, I know deep down that it's the Cerbera that's the luxury we could do without.

I could really do with 3 cars and have a cheap run-around for the wifes work, the Lincoln for weekend family duties and the Cerbera for myself, but the wife said no.

Now, sometimes I get a little above my station and fight her and I sometimes win, in fact, I often win, but in this case, I just know that this battle isn't going to go well and I choose my battles carefully. So as a compromise, we've sort of come up with selling the cerb and buying a cooper S or a clio 172/182 so I still get a bit of a speed thrill and she gets a cheap to run small car.

BTW, I consider anything that does above 20mpg cheap to run now

So while it's still nice for me to have my Cerb around, I know eventually, it'll have to go to keep our stalemate and a stalemate is better than loosing the battle and ending up with a diesel fiesta.

I'll probably put it in Autotrader when I'm back from holiday's in early September, just giving PH Classifieds the most time available as it's free.

Byff, i don't think there is anything wrong with your Cerbera or most Cerbera's for that matter, you know how much i loved my old one .... i think the problem comes into the total cost of ownership as the cars get older and you can't get any warranty cover for them even the AA one only goes up to 10 years old.

The cost of replacement parts for TVR's especially engine and clutch parts is massive as they are TVR only items. Its one of the reasons i went for a newer T350 than getting another Cerbera ..... i think the Cerbera is a better car than the T350 (once the suspension is sorted on a Cerbera)

As there's precious few TVR dealers in our neck of the woods, I think you could have a valid point. Fewer TVRs, less recognition, and even if they do want a TVR it could be a 1 hour plus journey to fix any problems or niggles (I used to do this frequently ). I've had my Sagaris up in the classifieds for over three weeks, as well as in autotrader, fish4homes and automart. And nada, not a peep .

I've decided to get the car up to HHC, and sell it through Tony. Will get far better coverage there (people visiting looking for Lotus and Nobles as well as TVRs). And IMO people seem more confident in buying from dealer, especially when it comes to TVR (warranty, finance etc).

No, not really. I am surprised at the lack of interest, but it doesn't bother me as such. Part of my problem is I'm not prepared to let the car go for a song, but Cerbera and indeed TVR prices on a whole, seem to be crashing through the floor. If you need to sell, you have to sell cheap or be prepared for a long wait. I'm in for the long wait.

I am aware of how I drive and I can sometimes scare people silly when I'm in a "spirited" mood. I'm just wondering if this would put someone off buying a car. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dangerous, but when the opportunity arises, progress is made

I'm not so sure. In the classifieds mine was directly underneath a similarly priced but older car I've never seen it but it wouldn't be in any better condition than mine (ask andy-w he's seen mine) and yet this car sold at a very good price and I have had the same interest as Dan well I tell a lie low offers and I mean low or swap for a VX220
hijacks thread and turns it into why wont MY car sell

Shame to see you selling it, you must have only had it two minutes.

Anyways, Thanks lads for supporting me on the loudest TVR threads, makes me proud to represent the region and bring home some medals (well, a little cup from BNG05)

Might have something to do with cost of fuel these days... I paid £1.04 per litre for Ultimate last night... and whilst I sort of support the arguments from the TVR faithfull that you shouldn't worry about the price of fuel etc... leaving aside the service and insurance costs for a minute... but pushing it hard at around 10MPG, that's 45p per mile (or 2.5p to travel 100 yards) has to make people think twice about buying one of these for the first time.

Sorry for the doom and gloom... really hope you manage to sell it.

Byff, a thought....

When I was looking for my first TVR, I didn't want one that I thought had been thrashed... same applies to all cars I have bought... so I was watching how the previous owner was driving on the test drive... so, if you are pushing it hard when you have a prospective buyer in, then they might think, rightly or wrongly, that the car has been abused. Maybe if you drive it more modestly next time someone comes to see it.

I agree with Red v8 ...when I bought my Cerbera sp6,the guy I purchased it from rung its neck on the test drive(admittidly after warming it up)and it was only because the car was mint and the histoy spot on that I purcased it,otherwise I would have walked away.
I have recently,in the last couple of weeks, sold my Cobra on pistonheads to a buyer from the midlands.I think like the Cobra the Cerbera is a specialist car so you should still have a chance of finding a buyer, although ultimately price will dictate this in the current buyers market.
My friend who is also a PH member has advertised his mint and reasonably priced 996 on here without a sniff so who knows ?

Good luck anyway Byff.thumbup
