What kind of show is it? Are there trade stands and stalls, or is it just literally the cars?

I'm looking at it from a selling point of view I sell kiddies books (Usborne) and have been told that car shows tend to be quite good for sales (all the wives and kids walking round bored!) - but obviously only if people are there selling other things too!

Show grounds usually charge £30 for a trade stand. You would need to be confident that you could make enough on the day.

We did over £300 at the weekend, but that was a big agricultural show. Often it is far less for a craft stand in the craft tent, which for the amount of stock I have would probably suffice.

the point is still valid though...was that £300 all profit?

Right....the doors open at 10:30am to public, they have to pay a small amount, show cars are free although a contribution may be nice --- all money raised on the day goes to the Transplant Team at Freeman Hospital, Tyne & Wear.
Some refreshments and local food will be available as are some trade stands (rural crafts and the like)
I will find out this afternoon what charges are for a craft/trade stall.
Close is around 4:30pm.

what kind of location is it?

don't mean to be rude but the last time I showed a car (in sunderland at seaburn) the little tts ran riot and some of the total cocks of parents (?) just let them do it and I couldn't let my car out of my sight...even had some pricks lifting their children up to stand on the rear quarters of the Ginetta

...just wondering if we're talking genteel village location with friendly locals or whether i'll have to stand next to my car all day

...sorry for the rant

No, £150 profit, less the £30 for the stand and the £30 I was paid (I was helping someone else, not selling my stock)

sounds interesting

What about people who don't have classic cars tho (although some say a Metro GTI is classic )

:cough: bollox

however, cars that look good but happen to have a metro GTi engine are fine

Humph. Classic as denoted by age not the actual car

Maybe we could run a 'spot-the-part' competition using a Wedge...

Well, the Black Horse used to be my local and we still go for Sunday lunch there occasionally, so it might be a good opportunity to pop along

You didn't used to live on the Gold Hill loop road with your folks did you?

Nope, I used to be in one of the apartments at Potto Hall. But the 'unusual' neighbours soon put paid to that . Blimey, I still have nightmares about a management meeting that was held that spent nearly 3 hours debating who's job it was to cut the grass , I was just sat there watching the whole time in mute amazement!

Spent an hour at the show on Sunday, not a bad turn out. Mixed bunch of cars:- American,MGBs etc. and earlier classics plus a few trucks and steam engine (& nearly forgot the Wedge). Very laid back affair, has the makings of a good regular event, just need to maybe attract a few more trade stands. The entrance to the field could also cause lower cars to ground. (Ask me how I know)
