Since getting back in the house at about 1'ish, I was supposed to be removing the old laminate floor in the hall and make a start replacing it with nice new proper wood flooring.

It would appear that it's now 15.42 and I've spent all afternoon surfing the web. At about 3'ish, I thought I might make a start and make enough mess that it looks like someone has been working all afternoon, but I got suckered into looking at powerboats on eBay. The kids are due in from school now and they'll surely "grass" me up to their mother.

Unfortunately, eBay and PH has tok all my time up and I'm now just preparing myself for a slanging match - not unless you can think of a good excuse why I've done nowt all day?

How can you say you've done nowt. Posting on PH and scouring ebay for boats seems a pretty full time occupation to me.

The aliens didn't bring you back in time. They offered to help so that you wouldn't get into trouble but you had seen their handiwork and judged that it would not be of a high enough standard for you dear wife so you did her a big favour and asked them not to help. That of course left you with a dilemma. How could you tell the missus and still save your hide. You turned once more to the aliens and their advice was to be honest, just tell her the aliens needed you and you couldn't refuse. You promise faithfully to complete the work in the allotted time and will double your efforts to meet that deadline.

On the other hand you could just tell her there has been a management change and you now ware the trousers.

Yes, BIG FAST ones. Found a one with a 7 litre V8 in it.

BTW, everythings gone great, she who must be obeyed hasn't even raised the question of what I've been doing with my time. I did loads of talking and babbled constantly so she couldn't get a word in edgeways, then she went off and started shouting at the kids - RESULT!
