Can anybody recommend a campsite on or near the coast, up north? I've looked at places like Beadnell Bay, but I just wondered if there's another I've missed. Got to let me take my furry 4-legged boy with us.

You're a brave man. The NE coast is notorious for having its own climate. Just yesterday I was down as Redcar/ Saltburn; as I was going in it seemed like everyone was coming out. Within 200 yards of the beach the temperature dropped a good 10 degrees. Drove through Redcar and Marske, turned back inland and in a few hundred yards it warmed up again!
You could try the Lion Inn at Blakey Ridge on the N. Yorks Moors; Heartbeat country, short drive from Whitby, Scarborough, York etc. - and a pub on the doorstep!
If you mean NE as in Northumberland...er, sorry, can't help!
