Quick question for the northern TVR contingent......

I'm due to be visiting Sunderland over next week, and will be going up in my Griff. My question is does anyone else leave their p&j on the street overnight, as I know it's a bit of a car-crime hotspot and I'm a little worried about it. And before anyone flames me, I'm from Sunderland, so I'm not generalising. All of my family live there and they're saying I shouldn't bring it, but I really want to stretch her legs, would also be good to meet up with some fellow TVR owners if there's any meets over the next week or so

Cheers

Can't really comment on Sunderland as a whole but I guess as with most places it depends whereabouts in the area. Suffice it so say that I've left my pride and joy in 'questionable' places in M'Bro (Whinney Banks, South Bank and Grangetown ) with not so much as a scratch

: phew :

All depends where in Sunderland and also will it be on a drive or parked on the street itself.

I leave mine outside my Mam's house all the time and it attracts loads of attention, but luckily, not much of the negative type. That is in Grangetown, on the main road just along from the shops, but I'd be a bit wary leaving it there overnight.

Fair comment, makes sense. I know it doesn't matter where you go in the country there are good and bad areas. However, I also know that where I'll be staying is in the "bad" area, which most nights have joyriding and police chases (hmmm, not doing a very good job of convincing myself here ), just hoping that the average joyrider won't know much about Tiv's and will leave her alone.....

Can never remember what the area's called, only the pubs nearby It's round the back of the Grindon Mill, and will be parked on the street, and the house I'm staying at is set back a bit, so won't really be able to see it easily......

Edited to add....I can see why it get's attention, it's

I know the Grindon Mill area and I think I might agree with your folks. If it was a hard top, I'd have said risk it, but that little bit of fabric will be far too tempting for the local hoodlums.

Is there not somewhere else you could park it?

Thats what I was worried about. It's not so much the stealing/joyriding (that's bad enough) but the mindless "just for the sake of it" vandalism. The only thing I can think of is a hotel car park, they usually have secure parking underground, do you know if there are any in the area or the city center?

I can't think of any "secure" car parks in Sunderland. Closest I can come up with is the travel lodge on Wessington way (A1231) which is just on the junction of the A19. Outdoor parking, but far enough away from scoundrels so you can have a reasonably easy night.

This weekend there is a run up to Kielder on the Saturday or a run in the North Yorkshire moors on the Sunday.

Yeah, I was thinking of having one of these parked either side, but luckily enough a cousin has kindly donated his garage, so all is well

Byff, can't make the Saturday run but definately like the idea of a run through the moors on Sunday

What time does it start and where is everyone meeting? Would love to come along so long as you don't mind a southerner tagging along (I'm originally from up north if that helps )
