I have just tried to book 14-15 rooms for newcastle central travelodge and after ringing up for months saying they don't do a more than a coupke of months advance bookings they have a new system where you can book upto 12 months in advance. This now means they don't have enough rooms for us on the saturday night.

Can anyone think of any hotel near the centre, that charge around the £50-£70 a night mark ?

We normally find a local B+B and get in with the owner reassure them that we are drunkern boys but we are from surrey and very polite boys as well. Any of you lot know/own somewhere like this ?

Also anyone know/own a resturant that would do a deal on a set menu for a rugby team ( about 30-40 guys ) to eat and pay for ( copious amounts ) of drink on top. ?

Any help would be greatfully recieved

Hotels:
Try Permier Travel Inn - there are a few in Newcastle and a short taxi away. Theyu usually have cheap rooms

Novotel and Formula 1 are next to each other again a sort taxi ride from city centre.

In the city there are usual biggier like Holiday Inn, Swallow etc, maybe able to get a deal from them?? I think Jury's Inn provide good prices????

In Jesmond, try Jesmond Park Hotel, New Kenilworth, New Kent Hotel, The Caledonian, Grosvenor Hotel, Fern guest House, Dene Hotel, The George Whites Hotel, Roseberry Hotel, Carlton. I have no idea of room prices sorry. Yell.com has all those above. Jesmond is good for food and drink and staggering distance to the city centre.

As for restauarant - give us a clue want you want, Pizza, Chinese, Mongolian.......

Kublai Khan on the quayside/dean street.

Mongolian
Chinese buffet + construct you own menu from raw food and have it cooked there and then. Eat as much as you want/can for set price. Drinks paid on top.

Prices vary depending what night you go. Thinks its £16.95 on fri/sat/sun £13 or so other nights

If there is that many of you, you might be better hiring an area in a bar and get them to do food.

Barluga on Grey Street(0191 2302306) in Newcastle has a Mezzanine floor which you can hire, it over looks the rest of the bar and they will do food too and it is alright on a Saturday.

When you have a large group like you have some restaurants in Newcastle can be a bit arsey, there is a place in Newcastle called The Gate (www.thegatenewcastle.co.uk/venues/ and they have a load of restaurants/bars all under the same roof. It's not to everyones cup of tea or mine but when you have a group this large it might be better for you to get food and drink there, and then venture around Newcastle after you have eaten as the pubs/clubs around Central Station are just a stones through away and the Quayside is just a short walk.

If you get stuck give me a shout, I have someone in works who organises all my events and they might be able to help.

Plenty of Chinese restaurants on Stowell street.

Prima Pizza Pasta on The Side near the quayside = = EXCELLENT and big to hold well over parties of 40. And spciy pizza.

Hmmm, indian food.... I'll have to think on that one, I would go for my curry outside of the city centre - let me know if youwant to know where.

And let me know if you are still struggling for a restaurant.

Do we all get an invite for free beer?

Mate, you are more than welcome to come and meet us for a beer, as long as you understand the tour rules, have a quick peep at pie and piston search unser " i'm famous " and look around pages 4-6 for some pics of last years tour.
