Dear all

If all goes well my family and I will be out of the UK around Easter 2006. We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to explore life in Oz, but we will miss you particularly in cold damp car parks kicking tyres.

The car is for sale, its in the usual place, but PH's classified is a good starter.

But I would like to invite you all on a cruise over the weekend 18 / 19 March 2006. Details haven't been confirmed, but it will be something like a cruise into Northumberland / Kielder on the Saturday with a pizza at maybe Prima Pasta on the Quayside Saturday night.

I've kicked off a thread on the HSV forum as below, but I would love to extend the cruise to ALL my petrol head friends.

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=241302&f=69&h=0

I will post more info as time gets closer and will need to know if you are coming for the food and drink so I can tell the restaurant how many to expect.

Hope to see you all soon

Richard

If you're inviting us all to the night out for pizza, are you paying?

What a generous chap, it's not true what people say about you!

Superb news! Congratulations! Shame the car is £10k over my current budget though!

As for the run, I'll see if I have a decent car to do the trip out by then (my Toyota Carina e isn't ) but I'd be up for a Pizza

Well done Richard, I'm glad everything's come good. Just think in a few weeks it'll be prawns on the barbie job, tinny in hand washing down the dust of your new Holden
Not envious at all....
I'm going to try to make that N'umberland 'cruise'.
Hope the packing goes well; any bits and bobs you want to re-distribute around the NEPH lot?

Couger, insurance around £700 parked on the street everyday use. Avergage 20 -25 mpg, 29 on a run.

Engine oil every 6k, gearbox every 12k. Anything else?

All

flogged the marlin stefan?

how about retracing the kielder route we did a couple of years ago?

we can meet up at my flat again for bacon butties and tea if you like just like last time

I won't be in the mini though...most probably in a mint condition S3C that i've just contracted to purchase....it is quite frankly the loudest vehicle in christendom (this side of a LeMans car )

how about it?

no not sold, but I no longer own it - can't say too much about it due to circumstances.

Thanks for the suggestion, that may well be an option. The only thing I have to bear in mind I'm hoping for several cars to be coming from further south, so might have to arrnage a few meeting points. I'm planning the route at the moment (and meeting points) so I'll keep you in the loop.

The weekend cruise is arranged, times are as follows.

Saturday - the Kielder run
Leave Washington Services (Southbound) at 09.00

Leave Scotch Corner Services at 10.00. Travel To Hexham Horeseless Carriages for second meeting point.

[With Minimax's kind offer he has suggested a Newcastle meet at his to then drive up to HHC - that would save the those un unnecessarily drive to Scotch Corner and back]

Leave Hexham at 12.00. Travel to pub at Kielder for lunch. (Pub may not be nice to look at but sandwiches are supposed to be good). After lunch visit Kielder reservoir visitor centres.

Leave Tower Knowe visitor centre at 15.00. Travel to Wheatsheaf Pub at Callerton near Newcastle Airport. Estimate arrive at Callerton about 16.15 hours. Time for a refreshment, say goodbye to those going home or time to check in and get ready for evening meal.

Italian munchies at 19.00.

Sunday - the North Yorks Moors run
Have a big BREAKFAST

Leave Washington Services (southbound) at 11.00. Travel to Moors Visitor Centre. Arrive approx 12.30.

Leave at 13.00. Drive to Hemlsley. Have a walk around for an hour and have an ice cream

Leave Helmsley at 14.45. Drive to Fish n Chip restaurant called Whetherby Whaler on the York ring road. Fish n Chip tea at 15.30.

From here, its easy access to main roads north and south.

I need some info from you
To help the the pubs and restaurants I need a better idea of how many folks are coming. Can you please give me numbers as soon as.

I'll come along for the Saturday.

What are the chances of being a bit of a lift-whore and getting a passenger ride with someone from HHC?

Jagsy, sadly the Marcos won't be there. A recent 'discovery' has put it off the road for a while longer. At the very least I'll try and get along to one of the meeting places, but if there are any spare seats anywhere (after Stefan of course, he asked first) I'll be glad to fill one of them.
