Need a CD changer installing. Anyone recommend any good I.C.E. dealers in the Durham/Tyneside areas?

If money is no object, then there's Turners on Leechmere Industrial Estate. He's the one David Beckham flew out to Spain to fit a radio in his new car.

edited to put the right name in.

Turners are on Leechmere. Autosounds are/were on Scotswood Road. I've used both but a long time ago Turners were better but fitters do change so not much help sorryTry www.turners-online.co.uk Guessing at your car the dad John Turner has had these sorts of car before ,the son Mark now runs the show and is very helpful and friendly if you go try to deal with him (it may be him any way)

Turners have a big reputation yes.. I got an alarm in my works van(corsa) done there recently and it was a disgrace, had to go back and get it done properly, just my experience.

I've had both good and bad experiences with Turners albeit a long time ago, good ICE and bad alarm (no lights when they had finished). My latest ICE was sourced and fitted by Tomorrows World, opposite Crosslings on the coast road. Autosounds on Scotswood Road also have a decent reputation.

I had no trouble with the alarm it all worked fine, it was the standard of workmanship.. they left panels hanging down, and snapped some plastic grommets off the trim, wires showing etc.. you get the picture. The owner was very apollogetic about it all but it was still a hassle.

TFG in Newcastle just off Scotswood road, do a better job than turners and at a better price, also much easier to get on with and a proper group of petrol heads always good to have a nice chat about cars when go in.

It's not rocket science: do it yourself

Just had to put another in me Julie's car after the thieving cuunts had the last one away... suspiciously because it was the only car crime reported in the area on the coldest night of the year; even more suspicious becuase it had just been in a bodyshop (whee they'd have seen it had no alarm) and further suspicious because although they got the CD changer and the umbilical cable, they never touched the head unit. Which rather suggests they had a head unit and knew exactly where to find a changer...

Not wanting to sound contradictory that is what I would do and indeed did when some firm wanted £500 to fit my changer and amp in the chim. Didn't just want to suggest DIY as I had no idea of disadvantaged's skills or inclination to doing this work(no offence intended)

I am not opposed to fitting equipment myself, it's just that I haven't done so since the days of my youth, we're talking MK1 Fiesta's!!

I understand that the changer will be a glovebox fitted item and until I get the car I don't know whether there is any pre-wiring in there.

In that case it should be easy enough, the biggest problem is usually hiding cable runs and removing bits of trim that aren't really made to come off once fitted, Good luck., whichever way you decide to go
