I'm going to the Jim Clark museum next week, stopping overnight around Hexham on the way.
As the journey up will have been pretty much all A1 I'm looking for pointers for a decent cross country route to Duns. After watching a Henry Catchpole video taking the new Lotus up there it looks stunning with some decent roads but haven't pinned down which roads he used. Cheers

Take the A697 from Morpeth. Continue on to Coldstream and over the border, then turn right onto the A6105 at Greenlaw.

It’s a nice route, just watch for the cameras on the Scottish side, they tend to be on long straight stretches of safe road! rolleyes

A696 up to Otterburn then A68 through to Jedburgh, then across to Duns, is an absolutely brilliant route

A lot of that Emira video is in the North Pennines, so if youve got time when your trip happens then come off the A1 a lot earlier and go to Hexham via a detour in the North Pennines. You could come off the A1 at Scotch Corner, head West and then either to Barnard Castle and up, or Brough and up biggrin

Agreed, roads around there are superb, Allendale, Allenheads, Rookhope, Alston, Middleton in Teesdale, Blanchland, etc...
