Just spent a shed load of money on my dream car after many many many years of saving etc.
So I have a 2017 aston vanquish S coming next month and it's in extremely good condition having previously been protected by PPF.
However that PPF is starting to show its age so I have asked the dealer to remove most of it leaving the beautifully fresh paint underneath.
My thoughts are to get a thorough professional detail and paint correction done so it's back to perfect.
At this point I would probably then apply a ceramic coating myself ( I've done it before with excellent results)
So what firms have you used and who can you recommend for this work?
Cheers for any thoughts you can offer

For clarity the owner of the business is a long standing friend of mine. But feel free to check independent reviews of them.

Give Paul at Deluxe Detailing a call and he will definitely be able to help you out.

They are accredited IGL detailers and Paul is the UK technical representative for them, which means he trains and accredits other IGL detailers and provides ongoing technical support for them.

They are based in Darlington near to the Brick Train if you're familiar with it?

Enjoyed the thread on your Aston purchase, congrats.
Have a word with David at DDB detailing Silverlink (check out their Facebook)
The’ve done paint correction, coatings and some ppf on my 458’s, 488’s and 812, as well as my dailies.
If I wasn’t incredibly impressed, I wouldn’t keep going back. They also do a lot of work for Porsche, Aston, Ferrari, Bentley dealerships on their doorstep.
Enjoy your new car and I’ll keep an eye out for it on the road!

I will pop in and see what's what as they aren't too far from me (15 mins)
I've done amateur detailing myself on previous cars including my own ceramic coating with great effect. I just think spending so much on the car that starting off with it in the best condition will let me stay on top of it quite easily and of course it will be looking its best.

Booked in with David at DDB for the 14th March nice guy and loves talking cars which is exactly what you want....someone passionate about what they do!

He checked the paint condition and general wear and said it would only need an enhancement package rather than any serious correction work which was good news.
Agreed on a 4 day enhancement with gtechnic serum ultra coating which surprisingly comes with a 9 year guarantee which is a long long time for a paint coating.
Being black with yellow accents she is going to look simply stunning once finished

Feel free to collectively tell me to sod off and mind my own business, but as a ball-park, what sort of figures would one be looking at for correction and ceramic coating work?

It really does depend on the existing condition of the paintwork.
If its pretty good as in doesn't have loads of chips or deep scratches then your looking at an enhancement rather than correction.
This is usually a deep deep clean, wheels off, machine polish to remove almost all swirl marks and light scratching an interior clean and leather treatment, engine bay clean but not detailed per se. The full fat 9 year gtee ultra coating on paintwork and wheels and your probably looking at a grand plus vat- £1200. A 5 year gtee coating will be cheaper and if the paint needs more correction than enhancement then the bill might be higher.
Best to wash your car and pop in for an evaluation (look over) and they can tell you what's possible, what your looking to achieve and what the time and costs are likely to be.
My car is in with DDB
http://ddbdetailing.co.uk/index.php
Their site gives some indicative pricing for treatments but more imporyantly they are used to dealing with high end cars and all the different types of paints used by the likes of aston. Ferrari, lamborghini etc.
Dave is a very friendly and helpful. Chap with loads of knowledge on the best products to use on different cars etc.
They are also well versed in ppf and wraps if that's your thing.
They seem to come well recommended and I can confirm they do work for some of the main dealers near them like ferrari jct, porsche, bmw, Bentley and Aston.
It's probably not a bad place to hang around 9f your a car spotter as some nice stuff goes through his doors

Longyyyy, many, many thanks for the detailed reply.

My musings were based upon two of my vehicles, neither sadly is in the same league as an Aston, Ferrari etc.

The first would be a mint, low mileage, V8, last of the proper Jeeps that I’m in the (slow) process of restoring for my Wife.

The second is a new van that I have on order, due for delivery in August. Yes, I know, it’s just a van, but my van is the main tool that keeps a roof over my head and ideally I’d like this van to last me until retirement, (15 years away).

Before it even gets used for work I’ll be fully waxoiling underneath and in all the cavities. Reading your thread has also got me thinking about fully protecting the topside as well. Hopefully this new van will last as well as my current, 17 year old Renault van.

Yeah very pleased with it. It looks proper black out of direct sunlight and in it , the blue metal flake in it really pops and almost makes the car look like it's had some glitter dropped on it smile
She is a few years old now and was def in need of a lift and rhe car has tricky paint to work with so I'm glad I took it to the pros rather than doing it myself.
In some of the more extreme bend and creases of the body panels you can just make out rhe carbon fibre weave underneath the paint which just shows how thin the paint can be in places and as a mere amateurs I could have gone straight through it and ruined it.
I will be well capable of keeping it at this level now they have brought it all back to 'better than new'
As for DDB the car had done less than 1 tenth of a mile in a week so they weren't driving the car and those pics I posted were taken by Mark who worked on the car from his own phone as he likes Pics of his favourite jobs that he completes so proper enthusiast just like David the owner
Happy days

You do right to get the professionals to do a proper job, then you can maintain it on a week by week basis to keep it looking 100% .

Which panels are carbon fibre please ?
