Thirty years after my parents dropped me off down South for three years of university I’m eventually starting the move back home to Newcastle.
This weekend I’m having a car and a bike shipped up, my 650s and R1200GS. Are there any regular run-outs or events going on that it’s worth knowing about?

Just behind the Civic centre.
I spent last week there, and it was so good to be back.
Near the university library? Nice spot there. I spent last week there, and it was so good to be back.
I saw on your commuting thread, that you have moved the family up here, how are they all finding it? I guess a bit different to London! I lived in the midlands for about 10 years before moving back up here. I love the space and countryside up here. And the roads! I'd find it very hard to leave again.

Yes, facing the library.I saw on your commuting thread, that you have moved the family up here, how are they all finding it? I guess a bit different to London! We’re split between homes at the moment, but my (European) wife absolutely loves it.
We live in suburban commuter land in London, and being able to walk into town makes it feel like we have a proper life again.
We were all out at Tynemouth for a beach day in the summer, and it was just lovely, seeing my little boys play in the sea and the sand, and it’s only fifteen minutes away.
We’ve a very big decision to make about whether we sever our links with London now. We’ve a nanny and nursery here, lots of friends, and as we both work in banking, lots of jobs.
I suspect it’ll just get harder and harder to face the drive South until one day I can’t face it.

Welcome back, I'm just around the corner from you near the RVI hospital. I'm another who moved back recently after 18 years away in Southampton and Crete. Newcastle's a much better city than it was! We’re split between homes at the moment, but my (European) wife absolutely loves it.

If you want info on meets and runs out I might be able to help.

I will, thanks, and yes, that’s very close. We probably walked past yours on the way to Exhibition park at the weekend. If you want info on meets and runs out I might be able to help.

I'm at the city end of the other park, Leazes, so near the Trent pub. It was the only place in the city centre I could get a decent sized garage and a private garden for the dog! Lucky to have so much green space on the doorstep. It's becoming a bit of a guarded secret, but there's a pub called the Crown at Humshaugh that has a car guy running it. Often on a Sunday lunchtime there's some very precious metal gathers there, and the roads from ours to it are, er, inviting! I know a lot of useful people locally in the motor trade, some very close to you if ever needed.

We’ve only got a courtyard garden, but at the far end of it there’s a double garage with a flat above.
We bought five years ago, and have had two children since, so probably would prefer a proper garden, but other than that it has pretty much everything that we want.
My family are all only a few miles North, which is really nice.

Handy having your own space. It's still difficult in the city centre to house all of my nonsense, I have 3 in the garage, and achieving that meant re-jigging the house. I might end up bumping into you without knowing if you're out for a wander, I'm often in Leazes with the dog when I'm not working. Or next door in the Trent obviously!

The Hancock is out the back of ours. It looks a bit, well, studenty.I might end up bumping into you without knowing if you're out for a wander, I'm often in Leazes with the dog when I'm not working. Or next door in the Trent obviously!
