Alnwick Castle etc...holiday help.
Discussion
Hi all, were coming up to stay near Rothbury next Friday for a week for a family event. We'll have grand daughters aged 8 and 4 with us. I know some Harry Potter stuff was filmed at the castle. Is there enough for them there to make it worthwhile? We've been to the castle many years ago but happy to go again.
My mate from Seaham's filled me in on some stuff to do but any suggestions welcome.
Hopefully get to the Jim Clark Museum(again)

Our kids loved it last time we were there. I don't know what capacity it's operating at present but if it's anything like normal they'll love it. The Alnwick gardens is worth trying to include too and plenty to keep kids interested there as well. You used to be able to save a bit of money by buying a ticket that covers both. And while in Alnwick, if you have any time left over, check out Barter books. Just a fantastic place and again, the kids will enjoy it.
In that area you have various days out.
Bamburgh castle and seahouses are not too far off.
Alnwick gardens, any of the Northumberland beaches (druridge / craster / Amble / ross sands etc) are all lovely clean beaches.
Chillingham castle is worth a visit, especially the dungeon.
Morpeth is a nice town with some good walks. The cheviots have some god hiking walks.

Thanks for the tips, we had a great week despite some rainy spells. The grandkids enjoyed Alnwick Castle and being a Lotus nut we did the obligatory Jim Clark Museum visit. My daughter was really impressed(surprisingly).
Also had trips out to Seahouses, Bamburgh, Morpeth and Amble Marina( great fish and chips at The Old Boathouse). Excellent takeaways from the Granby Inn in Longframlington.
