they'll be using them to decide which roads to put as bus lanes due to high traffic.
From what I understand they plan to put a bus lane the entire way along Scotswood road (making it single carriage way) and is the reason for making the new bit dualed
As mentioned before, Newcastle will slowly become a ghost-town with people driving to the metro-centre rather than teh expensive and difficult to get to Newcastle.

The Metrocentre can be just as bad. During the Christmas period it is a nightmare and somtimes the A1 just seems to blockup going Northbound for no reason.
I have a parking bay on the Quayside, it can be a nightmare driving to it if I don't time it right in the morning or evening during the week, but during the weekend it's great!! Just a short walk into town. I think if you try parking on the Quayside on a weekend instead of central Newcastle people may be surprised at how easy it is.
As for the Metrocentre I would rather shove a red hot poker up my a*** than shop there.
Cheers
The Gman said:It can be, it can be absolutely terrible to get into the place (I worked in Ikea for a fair bit), but it's free parking and the roads are relatively decent (not great I'll grant). Compare it to the town where all the main access routes are been actively congested by the council and you'll see why I reckon it'll shortly die as a shopping location.

The GMan said:I personally prefer it, whilst as the town and MetroCentre have pretty much the same shops, the later is all under one roof and is dead easy to get everywhere. The MC certainly lacks the character of the town mind, but for ease of "in and out" shopping big out of town complex's have it sussed. Having said that, I'd never, ever, ever, venture there on a weekend.
