Copped on Monday morning traveling from Bristol to Teesdale and back in a day (that'll do it). Just a powerfully built Director seeing his client.

Caught at 90mph. Fair cop, but not cricket in my opinion. Very flat straight stretch of carriageway with clear conditions and nearly no traffic. They must have got me just after going over the crest as I spotted the van early. I'd like to see the road traffic collision statistics of this stretch of road to set my mind at ease on the justified placement of this camera - does anyone know where I can find these stats?

Cheers!

No idea about the stats, but N yorks police do not use fixed site cameras. The vans are alwaysalong that stretch in the various laybys, move from one to another over a few hours.

I too got caught at 69mph in my Mercedes Sprinter van same stretch. 3 points and fine. Can’t remember seeing an accident on this stretch of road and I use it four times each day.

Thanks, as I thought, I'm putting a freedom of information request through to North Yorks Police and if the data shows what we expect it to I'll see if I can get the attention of the local press with it. Will publish it here too.

Real shame that the force has to resort to this sort of commercial policing to fund themselves. There are better ways of raising cash outside of central government funding.
