Tracker fitting in the NE?
Discussion
A friend is looking for a tracker for his new car he'll be picking up in a few weeks, but isn't sure where to start - does anybody have any recommendations of outfits in the north east who can sort him out?
Doesn't have to be the north east, I'm sure he'll be willing to travel a bit if needs be, but Durham/Newcastle area would be ideal.
Cheers,

Unless your friend is being forced into a Tracker of some sort, frankly, I would advise not to bother. I have experience of Cobra, now Vodafone Nav Trak - which I have on two cars only because the insurance company is under the illusion that these things actually work. Most of the time they don't. What's more the customer service is dreadful - it always have been for the 10 years plus I've had to deal with them.
I could write an essay on this but my latest experience was 10 minutes ago: I received a letter demanding renewal on one of my cars. I called Vodafone to be told "automatically" that I was 10th in the queue. 12 minutes later someone answered asking for my details and then "confirmed" that my car was a 458. I reminded them that in fact it's a 488 as they had already been told when they called me with spurious information. They then "confirmed" the registration number but couldn't find it because "somebody must have typed in a zero when it should have been an O". Having got through that and (supposedly) corrected the car details they needed to "confirm" that the system was working. After some minutes silence I was asked if the car was in a garage... it was. "We can't get a signal, can you take it out and drive it" was the response. NO!! was mine! It's ****ing down with rain, there's still salt on the roads and the car's not taxed. "We can't renew then" was their response. I should add that my garage is not a lead lined nuclear bunker; just brick and tiles. Without a mobile phone signal these things don't work. Do you get a signal everywhere you go? On top of all that, if your car is stolen, even if it does work and you can contact vodafone and they actually have the right details, the Police won't do anything. Again, I know this is true because it's happened to me. The stolen car was pushed into a metal container in seconds and of course nothing works in there. I saw it happen on CCTV - which the Police only got round to looking at 4 days after the car was taken. No, I haven't got it back.
