Pub B&B Recommendation near York

I need accommodation for a Friday evening later in the month. York hotel prices have gone ballistic, top end hotels quoting £200+ and even the budgets, Prem Inn/Holiday Inn etc. in the £150 range.

Any suggestions as to a good country pub with nice accommodation within say 10 mile radius of York? I would like to find somewhere at about £100.

I might suggest the Oak Tree at Helperby due to its proximity to me. The same chain of pubs (Provenence Inns) have others which may be closer to York.

Good point. I had not scrolled down far enough to spot that Yorkshire has its own section!
