Hehe please ignore below, I left my account open at my desk at work.... big mistake!

Everytime I try to have a bit of fun and race some, wideboy in his corsa off the lights, I just end up wheelspinning and then getting overtaken, it's a bit of a problem, has anyone got any ideas to stop me looking silly.

The art of getting away is to brake the static friction (get the car moving) gently. Once the car is moving you can start to apply power. I'm guessing you are applying too many revs prior to lifting the clutch. If you can get the clutch out without wheelspin and then apply throttle you'll be well on your way to beating those Corsa's.

it's called Granny Starting As Bob says, get the car rolling and once there you can give it a bit more power.

Buy a Rover like mine and take him by surprise.

(He'll also be choking in clouds of diesel smoke)
