Just a thought, but as I should be dropping a new carb on my engine in a few months I may well take it to a rolling road (most likely MacDonalds) for a proper setup etc.
If this does happen, would anyone else be interested in coming along and if we got enough interest (I think at least 10 cars, mine included) we could have a rolling road session / shootout.
I've been to one before and I think it was around £25 per car for a power run and all the printouts.

It would most likely happen on a Saturday morning.

This isn't a certainty yet, I'm just testing the water.

might well be interested in this but I already know what my car does @ macdonalds - 197hp & 270lb/ft however I am going to have it chipped soon to considerably more than that so perhaps around april time?

I would also like to point out that I wouldn't take my car anywhere else. they are top tippy top guys

OK, time to re-animate this thread.
The engine is hopefully going to be started tonight, which means the car should be getting onto the road next month most likely (just in time for the MOT of course...).

Would there still be people interested in coming along for a little shootout?
I'll be having a full set up done as the new carb is fitted but not fettled.

just spoken to John MacDonald. Extremely helpful, nice chap! Was chatting about the setup on the car and he spent 15mins explaining what I need to do/test to try and fix my running problems.

As for "power runs". roughly £30 a head and they can do 3 an hour. On a Saturday that equates to roughly a dozen cars or so.

I want to visit a rolling road - like - next week,
for a proper setting up session on my 390.

Where is the place please?

When I spoke to him he said the earliest he could fit me was the 8th August.

Many thanks - I'll give them a ring.

Handy them being Morgan specialists - should understand RV8s.

Thankfully the engine started last night.
A bit of fiddling with the timing (such as it being out by 180°....) and only one flame and it runs nicely.
I'll keep you posted on when I can to go to the rolling road.

Add my name to the list. Only problem it is too close, no chance for a decent run out (unless I go via Penrith, of course)

Not stepping on anyones toes (Chris) but my mate is very interested in a dyno test and has suggested Saturday 17 September 2005.

He has talked to McDonald Racing who can cope with 400 rwhp and I think they charge by the hour so more the merrier.

Can I have names if interested.

ooh...I can't do the 17th. bugger. macdonald are very competent though, when I enquired re: this event last week when the car was in they said they can do 3 cars per hour providing there are no hold ups, and starting from 9am.

the A692/1 to lanchester is nice too plus the staff at Macdonalds are all very pleasant and very professional.

just it's usual service - every 3000 miles...£2,400 hey ho.

just tightened everything up, oil change, replace propshaft brackets (again) and new calipers + discs & pads..astonishing the money I lavish on that car.

which is why i'm going to sell it I think and buy an elise
