Test car limits / drift type days or locations?
Discussion
Hello everybody,
im after some information. Is there anywhere in the north east area where you can basically go and test out the limits of your car and basically have a slide around. Ive seen some drift days which seem like the kind of thing im after but they all come with instuctors and cost a lot of money. Ive heard of ready set drift in America and wondered if theres anything local similar to this?
Or some sort of open area where I can go to and be legal?

Thanks for that just had a look at their calendar and see they do car track nights on a Monday. Are the test days the type of day im looking for? Actually their prices are quite cheap. I know the course is pretty small but has anybody got any experience of how they are run and what its like?
I did a driving experience day there amd although small it has a decent straight to get upto speed and is pretty trchnical, ive just had a look and for 75 quid i might have a go fairly soon, i have a saab 93 aero wbich os not renowned for its handling ability but could atill be a laugh!
Think ill also have a look down. I knew it was a small track but im just after somewhere cheap and to test the limits of the car a little bit or at least my own limits. It will be my first time on a track in my own car (ive done those experience days). Then maybe ill look at Croft.
I dont even live that far away so dont know why I havent been sooner!

Just Durham for me.
On their website they have evening days once a month in the winter and once a fortnight in the summer. Its 5 till 8 and costs £35 plus I think £20 for another driver and £10 for passenger. Open pit lane, 60 places and 12 on the track at once.
Septembers has been but I might go to Octobers and see what its all about, even just to spectate.

I couldn't get out of second gear at teesside. Depends on what you want for drift days, test and practise is great. For circuit racing and other higher speed stuff then it's no use.Croft circuit is fantastic and very well organised but you get what you pay for
Must be a really tall diff you've got! I can get easily over 100mph down the back straight in an Elise with only 160bhp.Used Teesside a bit for shakedown and durability testing. Its handy.
If you're wanting to explore the limits safely I'd look at travelling a bit further and going to Elivington or Blyton where there's nothing to hit if you get it wrong.

Not sure about the "tall" differential but the 4.3 final drive is as standard in most type r rx7s. Teesside for me was Ok for some testing etc but for fast circuit driving Croft is one of the best in the country imo and we are lucky to have it close by.Used Teesside a bit for shakedown and durability testing. Its handy.
