Wtf was going on tonight? Took me an hour from the angel otn to the Blaydon turn off. Then I saw it still solid up towards Kingston park and got off for my sanity sake.

Gonna be great when finished ( I somehow think we will be getting new style cameras as this may be a 'smart road', or at least the avg ones will stay) but sheesh its a ball ache at the mo....

Last night they had one lane closed northbound over the Blaydon bridge, not 100% sure why but there was a pretty big accident there during the morning commute, so maybe knock-on from that.

All the traffic which used to use the A1 and the Coast Road are now using the A19 to head south, my 40minute commute has turned into 1 hour 20 at best, complete ball ache, 2nd gear and let the engine take the car from Moor Farm to Silverlink.....either that or total st driving. Probably the latter TBH.

Spoke to a lad from Balfour's and he reckons will go on until summer 2016.

widening the lanes from 2 to 3 and link roads from A184 to lobley hill roundabout but existing bridges will stay. As lanes will be narrow will be restricted to 50 mph and probably average speed cameras fitted permanently!

Not sure how accurate this is but seems feasible.

Parts of the roadworks are now down to 30mph, the cameras mustn't have been making enough money.
I'm working at Blaydon at the moment so tried going Dunston/Swalwell one day and Scotswood road the other, both alternative routes have temporty lights or roadworks, absolute joke.

Yup wasn't expecting the 30 signs today. Although went through at 6 without any delay. 40 felt fast by the metro centre !

I heard on the radio that they were staying in place until Spring 2016 so either way, not good news on the disruption front.

Didn't even realise they have changed the speed limit until I was driving to work on Wednesday, I dread to think I got caught 4 times going to and from work Monday and Tuesday.

Welcome driver5885 wavey

Yes - had similar worries on the northbound section south of Durham when I realised there were avg cameras hiding in the dark. When did they appear ???!!!

I also didnt notice these near Durham till I was underneath one doing at least 60.

They just seem to be doing roadworks for the fun of it at the moment - it took me 25 minutes to get from the Wideopen to Seaton burn junctions on the A1 last weekend, no crash or anything, just roadworks.

What date did the revenue creation speed limit drop to 30?
Seems like I'm the only one in the household who doesn't use this road and have a chance of keeping a license this week.

Apparently it has been there since Monday, perhaps even the weekend.Have you also had similar worries from others?

You'd be better of leaving at Gosforth Park and rejoining at Seaton Burn if it's that bad! Though, everyone else might be doing that.

Regarding the 40mph limit extending North of Scotswood Bridge, could it be because there are roadworks on Scotswood Road (it's down to one lane for long stretches depending on the time of day).
