Hi,

I'm looking to buy a house this year and as a first time buyer I would like to sit down and get some independent mortgage advice. Can anyone recommend someone they've used in the North East? I'm based in Hartlepool.

Thanks,

Simon

I bought my first house in August, after seeing many people, we found Arnie Haq from Nationwide in Middlesbrough the best. I know obviously they're not independant, but he gave us very good free advice. He never pushed any product down our throat but after everything he was the best deal out of all the banks. Book an appointment you have nothing to lose (apart from 2 hours parking haha)

We are just in the process of buying another house and have used http://carolmitchellfinancialservicesltd.co.uk

Carol has been really good and overseeing everything. She will visit you at your home on an evening, which is great for me as I work long hours.

Happy to recommend her. In fact tell her Mark and Dawn recommended her to you. She is visiting us again on Wednesday night for an update (3 weeks into the buying process).

Thanks Mark - we'll bear Carol in mind. I hope you don't mind me asking but is she likely to apply a fee if we see her for a chat?

Michael - thanks as well. We were thinking about visiting some independent businesses first before going direct to the bank. When you say you saw many people, where did you start?

No fee for a chat, only if you use her for a mortgage. We found her really good at sorting out mortgages for our needs. BTL on current house, releasing equity for a repayment mortgage on the new place.

Andrew at smartifa.co.uk - used him about a dozen times now.
Very good, and no cost to you.

I've had 3 recommendations for Christian White in Hartlepool today. Anyone used him?

Mark - I've emailed Carol today and I'm waiting a response. I mentioned that you had sent me her way smile

I'll get in touch with him tomorrow, thanks. Does he do home visits or is he office based?

Thanks Dave. A lot of the people we've contacted are not whole of market so it will be interesting to get another perspective.
