Places to eat & drink Durham

hoping to get an over night in Durham between Christmas and the New Year.

Any recommendations of places to have a drink centrally, good ales and nice atmosphere for a 40 year old couple and then some where to eat on an evening.

Not too expensive say £40 each

I can recommend Finbarr's restaurant. Very good food, nice atmosphere, and it's a shortish walk into the centre.
