Hey all, I've been looking at getting some V6 goodness in my life in the form of a 350z but I've run into a bit of a wall with regards to fuel. I know these cars are supposed to be run on super unleaded (which I'm fine about) but where the hell in the south of Co. Durham can you buy the bloody stuff, I know the Shell station in Darlington sells it but seeing as I live six miles north of Bishop Auckland and work in Hartlepool that's one hell of a detour for fuel.

I know of more petrol stations selling LPG than I do any form of super unleaded (around my neck of the woods fuel stations are dominated by the supermarkets, Harvester and the very odd Total and that rarest of rare the odd indi, there's no BP, Esso and only the one aforesaid Shell of which, apparently, there's only two on the entire county), is it possible to run such a car on boggo standard fuel that's topped up with octane booster?

Does the Shell near the Hospital in Hartlepool not sell it? I know not many Shell garaged sell nitro+ diesel but thougt most places sell unleaded Nitro+. Failing that, any Tescos that sell Momentum (not used it personally)? Think there is one near St Helens Auckland IIRC. Your car should be ok on std unleaded - probably just feel a bit flat compared with higher octane stuff so performance and economy might be slightly worse than they would on Nitro+.

Thanks for the reply, I though the Tesco Extra up at St. Helens sold it as well but not any more it would seem (I went up to take a look at a Hudl for my parents Christmas prezzie and it seems Momentum99 isn't the only thing that they don't sell biggrin ). As for the Hartlepool Shell, I haven't been that way yet, I might have to have a look up that way as an alternative route home, they probably do sell though as it would seem to be a bit of a captive market around here.

Really? Wasn't even aware Sainsburys sold super unleaded, I'll have to have a closer look next time I'm up that way. I've just found out that the Harvester up at Fir Tree also flogs it (though I suspect theirs'll make Shell VPower look cheap). Looks like the V6 is looking a tad more realistic anyway.

Thanks for the help.

I buy my super unleaded at either Tesco at StHelens Auckland, or Coop Crook,,,no problems at either,,and there is no discernable difference to V Power

I didn't think the Total station at the Co-Op in Crook sold super, that makes life even easier as it's just down the road (and oh so on the way to work as well biggrin ).

I didn't see any hint that they sold it (most places as least have a super unleaded sign up of some description, now that I am actively looking for it biggrin ), out of curiosity how much a litre did you pay? I'm now in the process of trying to roughly cost up how much it'll cost me a week in fuel (close to 300 miles), assuming I can reach the 24mpg avg on mainly clear dual/single carriage roads at 50/60mph (if it's too much, i.e. close £100 I'll have to fall back on my second choice of the 2.5/3ltr Z4, I'm starting to like the look of these now for some reason).

yeah, it's that kind of price differential that's had me thinking about it, despite my desire (and not even man maths can get around kissing goodbye to a third of my wage packet a month on fuel alone).
