I have a Peugeot cylinder head that needs checking and skimming.

Can anyone recommend a workshop between Newcastle and Durham who are good and cost effective.

May ask them to do a bit of porting while they have it.

I would recommend Engine Services in Dunston for skimming.

They do all my work. He won't do porting for you though.

Thanks for the recommendations. Will be taking the head off this weekend.

Daft question, but do they need the valves in or out to pressure test it and skim it?

By the time most modern cylinder heads need a skim they're usually about 10 minutes from being scrap; they're made with only just enough metal to do the job and once you start removing it, it'll fail even sooner next time.
The 1980s Peugeot diesels were great engines but their modern ones are prone to top-end disasters just like most other makers.
