I have a friend coming up to stay with me next week and I'll be picking her up from Central on Sunday, but I'm not sure where to park.

Last time I picked her up there I was in the TVR and went in the normal way to park in the little car park right at the station's entrance, but the big rubber speed bumps nearly tore the bottom out of the car!

Could I go past the station entrance and enter from the other end to avoid the bumps or is it exit only? What about that parcel place next door, is there somewhere there? Ideally I'd like to be as close to the station as possible, but need to avoid nasty speed bumps...

you can park round the back of the station (through the tunnels), Times Square is fairly close, or there is a long stay car-park round the corner as well.

Times square is probably your best bet

uriel, I was at the station on saturday and the whole drive through bit was pretty much closed. you could pull infront of the centurian, where there are a few parking spaces, and then you were redirected over the pavement on to the main road again.
it might be fixed now but don't count on it. you know "workmen".

p.s. i've met you before, at raby castle. i'm the guy that knows bic !

I have the same problem. Usually I pull a sly one and go in the exit, or I park around by Coco V and walk down, but this is usually very busy on a Friday night.

park at the telegraph - theres a street of parking bays with meters running parallel to the railway track and a short tunnel takes you into the station

edit: I wouldn't give this advice to single women due to the dodgy types that hang around there, but having met you i don't suppose muggers are much of a problem

I think I should be ok armed with that info

How bizarre, a thread where I can say I've met everyone that's posted...I think that's a first for me!

Sheesh! I'm offended

I drove all the way up to Crawcrook to meet you for the drive to Raby Castle, get there to find you'd left without me, catch you up down the line and then you forget me...

Now I remember. We met you just outside of Stocksfield

I have a bad memory, must say I'm better at meeting people now

Still, the image of yourself getting out of the white tivver still has me amused - as much as the comments from the lass in the Silver Chryler

hello

did I use enough smilies to cover embarrasment. It was over a year ago. I've a drink. I didn't remember your login. It was dark. It was too light...

Back of the station/telegraph is the best bet, which way you entering town incidently?

I'll be coming over the Tyne Bridge. I'll drive by and see if I can sneak in the exit. If not and there aren't and convenient places I'll park somewhere out of the way, call her mobile and arrange a drive-by pick up

past the Station, turn left at the Centre of Life, down past the new buildings on your right towards the Storage place at the bottom, turn left, under the bridge and then left again past a Ford place and an ex Royal Mail place and park along there somewhere.

When she calls take the first tunnel and you're back where you started
