Lots. Of. Trouble. Usually. Serious.

Hi Campers, have got 1 dead engine couple of pistons, rings liners etc etc..... have got a new one to go in anyone done one of these, although it looks straight forward apart from the obvious no room at all to get a spanner anywhere.

Am gutted goin to miss cars in the park, might still get to lakes inv.

Cheers
Ian

That is a crying shame!

We did the engine on the Marlin to get to the clutch thrust bearing (the whole engine had to come out and the the car lifted over the top. Still, I had a mechanic come down and lend a hand!

Depending on the situation - I might have a free passenger seat (we are all snowed under with work but I'm taking the day off) so if you don't mind taking pictures for me...

You're doing what? Changing the whole engine or just the pistons/ liners?
The former would be easier - though you probably know that by now
Doesn't look that difficult: take exhaust off, disconnect driveshafts, pull the gearbox back, lift out engine.
Reassemble in reverse order of swear words

Hi Ian
Yes new engine still in the crate, goin in, dont ask me how much its costin me, ive lost count now...
The whole lots got to come out together gearbox everything, then split it out of the car, dont ask me why its how its done on my model thats from Lotus.

I thought about a re build but cant be arsed and it would cost more than what the car is worth just not cost effective. Hope to be ready for the lakes inv. give it a good run out.

Ian
