Heard about this place from a friend with an Elise 111S (Silver, Sunderland). After something TVRish for not too many beer tokens but not so few that I end up with a dog. Don't want to end up with Cerb 4.5 insurance premiums either. Costs me £2200 for a 21 year old on a Toyota Supra twin turbo (gray import) at the moment. Any ideas what to go for? Cheers

Christopher TVR's are silly insurance money for the under 25's. Minimax, a fellow PHer, went down the same lines a few months ago and ended un buying a Ginetta G33. Lovely V8 2 seater no frills racer very like a TVR though cheaper to buy and sensible insurance.

This is minimax at Croft with us last month

Future Mrs.....kids.......buy a Cerbera and have the costs of a mistress to go with them

I'd phone around and see how much you can get a quote for a 4.0 Chim. If the insurance aint too bad for that, you should be able to pick up a cheaper older example in your price range.

Dunno how old or for how much Gemini is selling his for but he's a lovely lad that doesn't look like Authur Daley so you should be ok.

insurance costs £550 in a low score postcode with 5 yrs NCD at age 22 for the ginetta. it goes sideways on demand, has 270 lb/ft in a 795kg body and I can get the speedo off the clock. sounds like what he's looking for!*

*except it leaks, a lot. oh and it only does 19 mpg but there may be a reason for this

Don't tell me YOURS is for sale Minimax (?).

I was well impressed by your car at Croft, especially without the track day silencers.

My 280i is still (halfheartedly) for sale at around 2 grand - it's in PH classifieds. Taxed til xmas and tested til next July.
Could do with interior tidying up, but nothing major.
Costs me less than 200 quid to insure, but then I'm an old git with max no claims.

no chance! not unless he offered me 4 times the value and I could get an F355! I utterly adore my car, it's an integral part of me

Cheers for the help guys. After much consultation with the missus we're clubbing together the cash from the Supra plus the cash for that dreaded 5 door (she wanted a bloody X5 of all things, women!!!) and i'm putting a deposit on a second hand Audi S4 Avant. Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated.
