The aircon on my merc w202 doesn't work, I dropped into ATS the other week for a regas but the chap reckoned there was a leak in the system that he couldn't see with the UV dye.

He suggested I might need a specialist.

Any recommendations

Sorry sawman, this isn't much help but I had exactly the same thing on my old 911 a couple of years ago and I couldn't find anyway up here that could help.

It can't be that much of a black art, surely!?

Good luck. Report back with where you find, for future reference.

PS. I use Autominster in Morpeth for my MOTs and I know they do Re-gassing but I've never asked if they do leak finding and problem solving. Maybe worth a phonecall though.

Cheers,

Google didnt throw much up - I could go to the mainstealers I suppose, but it would probably cost more than the cars worth in that event,

Graham Stobb at http://www.coolauto.co.uk/ if he's still in business. Did a lot of work on my Excel to convert it from R12. Very knowledgeable. Recommended.

Yes please report back if you do find anywhere decent as the aircon in my Boxster is not cool in the slightest so I was about to ask for a recommendation for where to go rather than just trying nearest Halfrauds/ Kwik Fit/ ATS.

I reccomend Cavendish Motors in Ashington, they've done a heap of work for me including an engine change and they fixed my air-con leak. Professional guys and a Bosch service centre.
