Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get my car noise tested in the Teesside/Durham area. I want to book a trackday at Croft and their noise limit is 88dbl.

Cheers,
Rob.

Rob I have a noise meter if you want to check it, need to check my exige to see what that measures for a trackday.

Info here on how to test dB levels for tracks

You can get dB meters for iPhone / Android phones these days, and they are reasonably accurate. Also Maplins sell them for around £15.

The only problem with the apps is they only go up to 90-100db and it also depends on how good the phone mic is

Can you not just cruise past the track microphone on a closed throttle, providing you can pass the static test? hehe

Rob, I have a db meter and can measure your car. But I can tell you now you won't be able to meet the requirement for Crofts 88db days.

Yeah, that's right, but didn't he say his limit was 88dB?

Apps like this are unreliable.

OP _ make sure you can pass on static and drive by.

Most after market exhausts fail at Croft from experience.

Do they use a drive by meter now? I thought they only ever checked static at croft.

Yes I think your right. Last time I was there I was tested at 85db static. That was with my Milltek exhaust. I've since had a Racing Beat 4 into 1 manifold and 200 cell sports cat fitted.

Yes, there is a drive-by noise meter at the exit of Sunny Out. Definitely don't want to be running over the rumble strip there on a quiet day.

You already know the answer then.

Yes I probably do know the answer to whether or not I'll pass the test at Croft, however I would still like to know how loud my car is. An increase of even 1db is alot louder.

Just goto Croft when a Trackday is on and ask them nicely to check your car. That will give you idea of how loud you are.
