Van with camera on a pole

Coming out of Cleadon going towards Bolden (before the railway) there was a Van and outside had a long pole with a camera stuck to it towards the back of the van if not mistaken and another camera on a short pole on the front, could be vice versa.
Is this a speed trap lads, any idea ?

Usually to catch people stopping/dropping off/parking in bus stops. Not for speed.

No, was an official Ford Transit van.
I think it had a camera sticker on the side, looked like a copper van.
May be looking out for tax disks, do not think it was a speed trap.
Am I right in thinking a small camera on a pole cannot read speed of oncoming vehicles?

Don t trust any van with this type of gear, they possobly can tell you what colour your eyes are. You have been warned.

The new vans can read a plate from 1 km away and they are also omnidirectional with cameras facing multiple directions.

I have seen it a few times and confused as its badged British transport police.. It also has dvla logo so I think looking at tax disk. Be mad to drive over 30 there.. Railway crossing and plenty of horses about
