Its that time of year where the renewals coming up and wondered if anyone can recommend a decent company for insurance, currently paying £2,444 for the year which works out at £200 a month with Ingenie.com, current prices with other companies are £119 a month but really wouldnt mind trying to save a few extra £££. Anyone have any suggestions?

£2,444 for the Megane ??? I usually try a few of the big comparison sites to get an idea, and then approach some of the better companies directly. SeanyD said:

yeah and thats with a company aimed at young drivers like me, the meggys only a 1.4 litre and no bother at all, quotes I've been getting lately are £1032 for the year with bell from admiral but lately theyve risen meggysaurus said:

folowed by So how much is typical first time insurance for a 17 year old lad now then ? (my oldest is 17 next month and ive convinced him a £5 bus pass to travel anywhere in the north east for 70p is much better value! )
my first quote for insurance was £45 in my dads name but he told me i needed to build up no claims bonus so I paid £221 TPF&T for a talbot sunbeam 1.0 that was back in 1987 mind ..
Maybe its all relative, as a labourer I was making £40 a week so close to 6 times my weekly pay so what youngsters are paying now prob isnt far away but still sounds a lot!

Do you have mother, father, sister etc who can drive that you could try adding on as a second driver? My brother is on mine despite him not living in the same part of town as me as it's knocks money off my premium.
done all that mate, its actually cheaper just having me on despite them all having clean licences and 20+ years of holding their licence and NCB. Good lord, that initial quote was absurd. I thought my insurance was bad (27, no NCB, licence for 9 years, Civic Type-R was £119 a month). £200 a month for a 1.4 is just stupid. Talk about deterring young drivers...
I always found Admiral to be decent for younger drivers. Doesn't seem like any of their call centres are local, and things take a while to get processed if you need to claim but they were always by far the cheapest quotes for me. These so-called specialists for young drivers were hundreds of pounds more expensive a lot of the time.

Insurance prices are just stomach churning, admiral and adrian flux couldn't give me competitive quotes, really chuffed I've got this quote even though its another year of telematics which I don't mind.I always found Admiral to be decent for younger drivers. its stupid how they 'calculate' the quotes, my mate copied the exact same car as me and reckons his insurance was half of mine even though he's younger :s I don't know how insurance call workers sleep at night knowing they're ripping people off
