Decent restaurant/pub West of Newcastle

Errington Arms @ Stagshaw Military Road is good, Feathers @ Hedley on Hill is top notch. Chinese in Corbridge is good, for average carvery try White Swan @ Heddon.
Queens head at Great Wittington is good, as is The Rat nr Hexham. For £££ Bouchon in Hexham is rather good.
Good Hex curry = Saathi.

The Panzanella salad I had in there over the summer was delicious. The food is always great and it's a decent pint too.

I can recommend Sale Pepe in Shotley Bridge.
Really ?? I dotn its alright for the cheap tea time deals but for a nice family meal no thanks. I also decided to give it a wide birth after they started charging £4.50 a pint for peroni which is their only lager option. The food at the crown across the road is better too.

Good call, great pub food, bonus of being owned by a fellow PH'erscb40 said:
We tried Bistro En Glaze in Wylam recently and it was very good. Also Lion and Lamb in Horsley is usually pretty good.
The Bistro En Glaze is pretty good. Going on a weeknight for the set menu is a smart idea, it's much better value than the a la carte menu. They do a very, very good steak and fries. Some of the dishes on the a la carte menu have left me a little disappointed, especially at circa £16 a main course. Go for something you know you'll like! The Swan at Heddon On The Wall offers a carvery as average as the concept suggests. I've yet to go to a carvery and be really blown away. But the food on the bar menu is very good. If I have one criticism, it's that the menu isn't quite as adventurous as it once was. They've taken my favoured devilled whitebait starter off now, and cut out a few dishses which presumably weren't too popular. The Ultimate Saxon Burger is delicious though, and as a good a burger as I've ever had. They serve Wylam ales on the bar too. Whilst they usually only have two on, they're consistently good ales so you'll probably enjoy them (though I do prefer a bar with a few more on draught, like the Boathouse).
For a Chinese, the Artisam (yes, that is the correct spelling) in Corbridge is lovely. It's a Kevin Liu restaurant, run by his wife. Stop there, and head to The Angel or The Dyvels for a beer before getting the train home. The Angel also does lovely food and good ale, in very comfortable surroundings. Continuing the Chinese theme, the New Rendezvous, Kevin Liu's flagship restaurant, still delivers delicious food but I'm not convinced relocating the restaurant to Ponteland town centre did it any favours as it's much harder to get parked there. Note he never parks his 7 series in the back car park, I doubt my car would fit in there either. The last time I went, I ended up having to park at Sainsburys. It was better when it was in Darras Hall, but the food is still excellent and the Salt and Pepper prawns are still the best around.
