I liked their Newton Aycliffe branch and will be sad to see them go. Are there any other good Ford dealerships in the North East?

BBC said:
More than 30 people have been made redundant after north-east England car dealer, Holiways Ford, went into administration.

Administrator KPMG, has made 38 of the firm's 81 staff redundant.

Some staff however, will be retained to work with the administrators to facilitate winding up the company's affairs, KPMG said.

The company has branches in Bishop Auckland, Durham, Hartlepool and Newton Aycliffe.

Sad to see any business close but judging by the service I recently received buying a new car for my other half im expecting more to be shutting down. It's not all as the smaller indy's tend to be ok but a lot of large dealership groups need to have a long hard look at who they are employing. I've found most have little to no product knowledge what so ever and seem to have cotton wool in their ears as they don't listen to anything you say. I'm actually convinced the majority have been took from your local Curry's store where they used to sell tvs and DVD players and are now apparently "car salesmen".

Sorry for the rant but I've been amazed by the incompetence and utter ste service in a climate where I would expect it to be fantastic especially as its a buyers market!

Oh I totally agree when it comes to buying, it just so happened that this franchise had an excellent service department at their Newton Aycliffe branch. I think quite a few PHers took their Ford's there.

But yeah, got the usual nonsense when looking around their new car showroom in Durham recently.

Have used the Hartlepool branch (and parsons/jennings before it) for as long as its been there. Great at after sales rubbish at sales, it became a Bristol Street Motors about a month ago and after 1 visit I'll never be back there.

i used to work at elliotts ford in bishop auckland before they closed down .
holiways had been after bishop auckland for years when they took over they savaged the customer data base that ford gave them and lost a lot of really good repeat business due to them been too greedy and un professional in the way they looked after the customers.
i do know that a couple of ex elliotts workshop guys work at turners of sedgfield and they are doing a lot to regain business for ford in that area .
if you have any problems i would highly recoment you talk to Malcolm Glover who is the aftersales manager at turners hes a smashing guy and knows what hes talking about
