Hi. I'm looking for a cheap runaround to help out a relative in North East. Is Vroom car retail park which is at Orion Business Park, North Tyneside worth a visit - seems like a few dealers in one place?

Cheers

I've never been too impressed with it, the cars, or the staff, nothing specific just lacking any 'heart or sole', looked at a few high performance cars that they hadn't even bothered to wash or clean from the previous owners, although granted its made up of different dealers, so I probably shouldn't collectively label them the same.

I was here a week or so ago, and it was deserted. The cars were very average, even the 'performance' ones.

I didn't see many runarounds there, as it seems to just be made up of mundane £6k family hatchbacks and the occasional Range Rover with blinged wheels.

To be honest, I can't see many retailers lasting long there. Access isn't ideal as you have to double back on yourself for over a mile and although the customer parking bays are nearly almost full, the forecourt resembles something from 28 days later.

I think in pricniple, Vroom is a great idea, just 10 years too late.

The days when you went out on a Saturday and wondered around garage forecourts with a rough tick list and budget, but not quite sure what you wanted are gone. People are too well informed, know what they want, and for most motorists, Autotrader more than does the job so they going to look at the cars they want.

Agree with the access, it doesn't help the site at all.

When i was looking for an M3 this lot had a few decent ones in stock.

I rolled up in my Astravan that i use as my company daily. Walked in, had a wander about, snubbed by a few of the suits walking about, usual piss poor for power types, so i left.

Bought one somewhere else a few days later.

as said they arent interested in talking to you and know pretty much nothing about what they are selling and wont let you drive a car off the premises unless you hand over the cash first. a good point is that they arent all the way up their own backsides like specific dealerships, BMW being a fine example

i got a 4x4 from there a few years back when the snow was bad, couldnt fault the car at all and I'd go back if i was after another run about.

Agreed, also to bear in mind, new cars are very cheap these days with excellent low rate finance available.
these dealers are not waiting for the Knowledgable to arrive, they pray on the nieve, but also trade vehicles from main dealers to other oulets to boost there income.

Auction houses have become much more accesseble and open to the public with full info on the vehicles they sell, in short a used car dealer has it hard these days, thats probably why they look so miserable

I found the opposite. I bought an RX8 from a dealer there a few years ago, and whilst the service was generally quite poor the salesman gave me the keys and allowed me out in to the industrial estate without seeing any ID etc.
