Specialist Renault place in North East
Discussion
I've just picked up a Clio 172. The exhaust that has been fitted looks like something that someone salvaged from a banger race. It also sounds absolutely horrific - loud, boomy and chavvy.
I'm after a nice quiet exhaust - 172s don't sound all that great anyway, so I don't really want it to sound any louder than it would as stock.
I've rang a Renault garage who have quoted over £350 just for parts, then on top of that, 2.5 hours labour, which I'm guessing will be at least £150.
I've googled around and came up with "Alpine Automotive" in Blaydon, who, on the face of it, look a decent company, but I can't find any testimonials and I'm not taken in by professional looking websites; as someone who used to design web sites for people, it's not difficult to make a cowboy outfit appear professional!!!
So I was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions as I know there are a few current and ex Renault Sport owners on the NE section.

Instead of paying retail, why don't you source the parts yourself either from a motor factor or mail order and get them fitted by a local garage or non franchised specialist who would do the work for less than main stealer hourly rates. TBH I would even try one of the fastfit places rather than pay what you are quoting from Renault. 2.5 hours labour to fit an exhaust? They are clearly allowing for a 2 hour tea break in that quote.

I'm sure I read that the time taken is because the rear axle has to be lowered? But yes, I take your point, its certainly an idea.Gassing Station | North East | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
