Driving home on the A1 tonight, on the foot bridge just before the Washington services (Southbound) there were a load of cameras, on poles, one covering every lane (north & south). Then again when i turned off at Chester le Street, there were two more the same either side of the road just on the entrance to the A167 toward Durham from the A1 roundabout?

Any ideas?

If you were speeding :

Speed cameras, they've got you

If not speeding :

I went past Lumley Thicks last night and there were a couple of vans on the bridge with similar setup. Had Highways Agency Survey or something similar on the side of the vans

There's a couple of those cameras on the bowes incline/A1 southbound slipway.

The installer had "traffic monitoring" written on his van.

Saw similar yesterday on a bridge over the A1 near Scotch Corner and also on the A66/M section going from the A1 to Darlington. Unmarked vans.

Might just be on the look out for uninsured drivers or no tax.ANPR cams. There were a rig of them near kingston park A1 the other week...next day gone.I would have thought if they were speed cameras they might have been up there a bit longer for more revenue. You'll find out in 14 days if they are..Edit to add if you were speeding. If you weren't great.
