Morning all.

While replacing the wishbones (control arms) on my car over the weekend I sheared one of the main bolts off. The bolt is well rusted in place. I've cut the wishbone and bush off from round it so now the remainder of the bolt is showing.

Ive tried hammering sockets onto it, mole grips, heat (blow torch), penetrating fluid, more hammering and I still cant release it.

The car is currently on axle stands at the side of my house with 3 wheels so I need to get the stud out asap. I was going to mig weld a nut onto it, but everytime I turn the power up on my Mig, it blows the power in the garage. Therefore, I cant get enough power to penetrate the actual stud, it just welds to the nut and twists off.

Is there anyone around Durham whos got oxyacetylene that can come and put a few heat cycles through the remains of the bolt/ stud to try and release it or can anyone recommend a mobile mechanic?

If your garage is anything like mine, it'll have a lower rated fusebox than the house. Have you tried a long extension from the house? Bonus being that if you run the extension right out it's less likely to fuse the electrics, IIRC...
