Cracking car, always wanted one.

Sure was a buying guide either in autocar or evo recently, well worth a read. Typically quite solid but obviously getting old now so various bits start to wear out.

Had a look for on le around a year ago, the nearest decent example I could find was in Leeds.

Be prepared to travel they're a very rare car up here in the NE.

10 posts in 6 years?! Top lurking OP!

Never had a Z3M but they were on my shortlist when I was looking for a weekend car.

This old Top Gear does a good comparison of the Z3M (Roadster version) with the Chim500.

Evo did a buyers guide on them that had plenty of good info _ used it when I was thinking of one but could not find a car that I wanted. Will have a look to see if I can find it, scan it and email it to you if you cannot find anything on t'intternet Evo website.

I had one in estoril blue, sold it last year with 60,000 miles on the clock. Still see the bloke I sold it to and he only does about 1000 miles a year.
Suspension is not good. It rides ok but can be twitchy sometimes. Upgrading can transform the car though.
Check throttle cable for stretch. Mine was only opening 3/4 way, when I sorted that it was like getting an extra 100hp.

The vanos had been replaced on mine before I bought it. Cost around 2k from BMW. The vanos seals blew once for me which resulted in no damage because I stopped the car in time before all oil escaped. Easy fix was to replace solinoid seals with nitrate ones which last longer. I still think the vanos issue is overrated, just replace seals and bolts and job done.

I have a Black S50 in Teesside if thats any use. A guy did the same for me (showed me around his S50) when i was buying 6-7 years ago. I guess its only right that i pass on this favour.

Possibly seen it around Hartlepool? M*** DRE plate on it? Still have it but now i have a little addition to the Misfit family it gets used very little at the moment. Mostly just kept in garage. Its not the most practical family car unless you just have dogs.

Whats the crack with the Malton meet. Will look into it.

Yep thats the one, didnt want to give the location away, can fill the rest of the reg plate in from memory but I wont lol. Parks just around the corner from me in Hartlepool, or used to anyways.

Have a read through:

Great meet, only things its an early start on the Sunday to avoid the traffic but see some cars you never normally would!

Ha Ha, thanks for keeping my exact location under wraps. I must live very close to you as I only really park it outside my house.

Malton meet sounds like a good crack. Havent been to one in ages. Will check distances and availability and keep you posted. Is there a convoy arranged from our neck of the woods? Give us a flash or toot if you see me out in it anywhere.

Cheers

Yes ive got a convoy organised, will E-mail you the details across tonight, as I say its an early start but well worth it.

No worries on the location and yes I must be literally over the other side of the pond I think.
