Don't know the car or what your budgets like but I would pay a bit more for a car with far less miles and a BMW warranty. Cracking deals to be had on these so shop around. Great value for money.

Give BMW a call to verify the SH is a full one, then ask for a quote for an extended warranty that should be available for a car with FSH and under 100k. Then price this into your deal, I wouldn't even consider an E60 M5 without a manufacturer backed warranty unless it was an utter steal.

Warranty jumps up in price after 60k miles if I remember correctly.

It's a typical thing to say about M cars but these cars are very expensive to run and maintain. A warranty from BMW would be a must if I was looking for one. Best of luck finding one and more importantly enjoy!

They can be if they go wrong, I make the comment about the warranty as I'm sure that below 60k it's quite a bit cheaper to purchase the extended warranty from BMW.

Tony is correct. 60k miles and the prices increases. Around 2k for fully comp iirc.

I also wouldn't touch an e60 m5 without bmw warranty. What a cracking motor for circa 20k though.

Thanks guys. The car wasn't for me so warranty concerns not an issue.

I believe that if the warranty has not been extended once the original one has run out you cannot now go and get a BMW extended warranty you would have to go elswhere.
I pay about 500 a year for a 06 330 so would not like to guess what that would cost on an M5 with that mileage.
Saw one at Lloyds Newcastle last week however cannot see it on their web site, might be worth while having a drive there just in case as that would come with a years warranty which than could be extended.
Good luck.
