Hi all,

Long shot I know, but does anyone know if there's likely to be CCTV coverage of the top floor of the red (Debenhams) multi-storey car park? Specifically the spots right next to the up-entry ramp?

Reason I ask is, I went shopping there on Saturday, returned to car and drove home, then discovered next day (when it was light) that someone has scraped the side of my car - along the drivers door and front wing.

I know it's unlikely to have been captured on CCTV, but thought I'd ask if there's anyone in the know?

Thanks

Have you asked them? I had the same query a few years ago. I had to speak to someone called Mr Atkinson at a company called Europa Services. He seemed quite helpful.

Hi thanks, no I haven't asked yet, was just wondering if it was worth it. Even if they can identify the car, probably the CCTV image will be too cr*p to read the number plate smile

Well, you'll never know until you find out.

Tried to contact them by phone, but I keep getting cut off after getting through to a department called "Control". I see from the Metrocentre website that Terry Atkinson is Security Manager - I presume this is the same Mr Atkinson you contacted?

Anyway I've sent them a request to contact me via their 'Contact Us' form.

Thanks, got it. Slightly different address to the one I finally got from the control room, so I'll forward my email to that one too. As the request must be made in writing anyway, looks like email is the way to go.

Will let you know how I get on smile

Spoke to my local bodyshop last night, their verdict is a new door required. Still waiting for a response from the Metrocentre too. Hope their CCTV isn't on a 24hr 'loop' frown

Ring the northumbria police number and ask to be put through to the metrocentre police office, I know a few of the cops who work there and i am sure one of them would be able to answer your question.

I know the older multis do not have cctv on each floor, only at entrance/exit. With the red being newer i am not sure, best ask!

Thanks, I've just had an email from the Control Room Co-ordinator:

"I have taken a look at our CCTV on the date/times you have provided and unfortunately cannot identify any evidence of damage to your vehicle. This is due to the placement/movement of the cameras at the time and obstructions from other vehicles"

So it looks like I'm out of luck and will just have to suck up my increased insurance premiums.

Many moons ago my mate had his car stolen from the Yellow Multi-storey
Upon asking about Camera's the told us they only had the one as you drive in.

We knew who was in the car then...us!

Don't know if it has changed since
