Hi guys, my m3 e46 is up for its inspection 2 service. Got quoted £1200 from main dealer! Best quote I have so far is £500 from a specialist.

Can anyone recommend anywhere that's good for this in the north east? Cheers

Hi Bob. You should be able to get the main dealer quote down to 800 quid.

My inspection 2 is due on the CSL before feb. Mines going into Elms Cambridge as the cars stored down that way (and they know their way round a csl unlike dealers round here)

Most guys on csl register are paying 800 and no more.

Teesside Autotech in Thornaby are very good. Used them on a previous e36 M3 and they were very thorough, very professional and more than reasonable.

Teesside Autotech I would personally avoid. They couldn't be more unhelpful and dismissive when I asked them to replace and code my new air mass meter on my 530d.

The mechanic there phoned me claiming he couldnt get one of the hard to reach screws off so would have to charge 1/2 hours labour on top of what we agreed. Despite the inconvienience I said I will take the car back and try and do it myself and then drop it back in to save the £30.

It took me less than 5 minutes to sort it out, so in order to embarrass the mechanic I immediately drove the 1/2 mile back to Teeside Autotech and was greeted by the mechanic who should of been ashamed of himself. What an attitude!

Anyway it still didn't fix my problem but after paying my money this garage didn't really want to help or offer further advice.

Without question, Dean @ www.dwmotorworks.co.uk in Blaydon. BMW master technician before going on his own a few years ago. Has looked after my M3 & CSL as well as many local M3's & M5's that I know of.

Genuine nice guy that really knows his stuff.

A mate recently came up from York to have his E46 M3 Insp II done by Dean.

Couldn't agree more. Deam looked after my CSL and M5 when he worked at Stratstone BMW. He was their M series specialist and is very knowledgeable.

I've not used them but my brother has for his Merc, Audi and currently BMW. Says they do a good job and are a lot cheaper than main stealers.

Don't know how much they charge for an inspection 2 but worth giving them a call.

Yep. Was with Dean on Wednesday as he attended to an annoying issue on my M3. Just checked his website and working fine, and the number is correct. Keep trying because he can't always answer.

But a more genuine honest and knowledgeable guy you could not meet!

I wouldn't touch Teesside Autotech with a barge pole. I have had a poor experiences with them. They cracked the thermostat housing and charged me for it along with bumping the bill up by £300 over the agreed sum, and a friend of mine took his BM there and they cracked the windscreen had it replaced but added it to the bill, wouldn't allow him to take it away until he paid up.

And here. Keeps my E65, wife's E92 and now her uncle's E91 in fine fettle. Highly recommended.

I went and used Dean @ DW in the end.

All I'll say is, Teesside Autotech can ram it.

Great job by dean, well priced and thorough, gets my business from now on.
