This should probably be in food and drink but figured it was more of a local question. Does anyone know of a good place for a parmo in Durham or Yarm? Will be visiting both places for work next week and figured it was up north enough (compared to Leeds) to find a decent parmo. Then again I asked some folk from Durham a few days ago and they had never heard of the delicacy.

Failing a good parmo place, any reccomendations for a good curry house?

Both are too up market for a 'parmo', best go to Middlesbrough if you have to have one. Loads of decent places to eat in Yarm and Durham.

The Blue Bell pub just before you go over Yarm bridge (left hand side) does a very good parmo. Or if its a take away one you want, either the pizza shop in the high street or on just up the road in Sunnindale called Marco's are your best options.

Stockton is a hop, skip and a jump away from Yarm - Rendevous is the best place by far. And I've had many test parmos.

Parmos are a very Teesside thing and you dont see many good ones around Durham.

The Europa Restaurant in Middlesbrough (Borough Road); never had a 'parmo' but their Steak Diane was/is very good. Don't park an expensive car near there.

Not tried it myself, but mate of mine swears by it.

And don't be harsh! I used to live on Union St! (I grant you, it's now boarded up, but that's not the point!)

Ouch! Sorry about that. I can top your Union Street, I used to live in Grangetown LOL. Anyway I'm glad I was able to assist with the 'parmo'.

Both of the above.

However - IF - you actually want to eat it in anywhere that does not require a TB jab, you may want to try 'The Crown' - the pub on the main road from the A19 to Yarm in Kirklevington.

Good Pub Grub, Good Ale, Good Parmo.
I know 'The Crown' it's the pub in which the piano player keeps playing during the bar fights LOL. Only joking. My son lives in Yarm; I might try 'The Crown' since I'm over that way quite often but not for a 'parmo'.

The Bay Horse in Great Broughton do a very very good Parmo.

Failing that if you want take away then Kelz in Middlesbrough village do a very good one. They are still a restaurant but let you take out.

Pfft KFC doesnt even come close!

I ended up in a place called Pizza Uno in Durham this evening after working round the corner. Wasn't expecting much but it was a really nice dish. Nowhere near as dirty as I thought it would be either.

How so? The picture doesn't quite show it but it was a decent sized piece of chicken. Coated in bechamel sauce with a bit of pizza sauce underneath it. Salad remained untouched.

I just "drove" around Brighouse on Google maps to find it - Milano Pizza:

http://www.just-eat.co.uk/restaurants-milano-pizza...

No idea what it's like, I just remember seeing them advertising Parmo and wondering what it was, I guess the reviews on the site above might give an idea.

Another vote for "The Crown" MIL stays in the village and we eat there whenever we're down.

Never had Parmo but will try next time we visit

Just seen this thread and noticed the reference by Tame Racing Driver to wikipedia and having read it remember Caramello working at The Europa, Borough Rd, M'bro in the mid seventies. We used to est Parmos there and it was the only place serving them if I remember correctly.
