My girlfriend's SLK failed it's MOT today because one of the wheels has a dent in the outer bead.

Does anyone know a good (cheap!) supplier of alloys in Newcastle? We're not after top class low profile examples since the car is just a daily drive.
I could also be tempted to just change the knackered wheel but it would have to match. Are there any second hand places around?

I've tried searching on the 'net but without speaking to a proper person I'm not getting anywhere and I can't do that during the day because of work.

Any ideas for a good fix which won't break the bank?

Whatever happens I need to get hte car back on the road for next Monday....

Well I though that but I've been told by the MOT place that's it's not repairable. However I'd rather a professional took a look and confirmed one way or another.

Are there any decent mobile repairers in the area? The other wheels need refurbishing so it could be a better place to start.

Thanks for that. I'll speak to them in the morning. I have spoke to a mobile refurber tonight but he told me that he couldn't repair the edges.

Mercedes quoted 175 +vat for one new rim. There's no point in replacing just one though as it won't match the already aged wheels. So I've had a quick look at replacing the lot. Probably looking at around £650 so far for a 'mid range' set...

I have a set of 17AMG alloys off a 2000 CLK, don't know if they will fit but would consider an offer plus your unwanted ones.
Based in carlisle.
Nearly new tyres and very good conditions alloys

Norman Marshall is the scrapyard near Scotswood.

Is there not an online parts finder you can use to track down a 2nd hand one (they basically search a lot of the scrapyards/ breakers for you and email you if they have what you are looking for)?

Yes, I've filled out the query form on sniffydog. I've used the site before and had some success. I'll wait to see what comes back.

Cheers for the offer. I showed my girlfriend some examples of them on the internet. I'm afraid she doesn't like them! (No taste!) smile
